Departure for the Arcachon, 55 kilometres southwest of Bordeaux city.
Discover the Arcachon bay, the historical oyster-farming villages. They have kept their original authenticity, giving them a character all of their own. You can enjoy oysters as people do here, with a glass of dry white wine in one of the little painted shed, just collected by the farmer.
Arcachon and its famous winter district, true paradise of architecture from the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century: a luxury resort where Spanish royalty, Russian dukes, and all sorts of artists came to stay…near 300 magnificent villas which feature stained glass, ornate balconies and intricate brickwork. Walk on the pier along the bay and its sandy beaches, and then at last climb the great Dune of Pilat, the tallest sand dune in Europe (105m). The view from the top is amazing with the bay on the north and the vast pine forest on the east and south.
