Bourg is a town built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Dordogne river and surrounded by medieval walls. You can walk in picturesque little streets to the harbour via and the King's stairway, a covered market, and the castle.
Blaye is almost famous thanks to the citadel. The Vauban's fortifications are inscribed on the world heritage list by Unesco since 2008. The old citadel was built in 1689 to prevent the english from entering the estuary and reach Bordeaux.
Red wine is made predominantly from Merlot , Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc,.
White wine from Sauvigon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle.
